Our Community
Preserving history is a community effort. On this page, we showcase our valued friends —local non-profits and community groups — that work alongside the Saugerties Historical Society to foster a deeper understanding of our collective heritage.

Gravestone Guardians
Gravestone Guardians, Inc., is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization co-founded by David and Jenny Carr of Bellingham, MA. Since 2018, we’ve been dedicated to cleaning, repairing, and restoring headstones with skill, respect, and a deep appreciation for the history they represent.
Saugerties Village Tree Commission
The Saugerties Village Tree Commission (SVTC) was established in 2014 by the Village Board of Trustees to promote and manage the planting, maintenance, preservation, and removal of trees and shrubs within the Village of Saugerties. We steward the Village urban forest to improve air quality, reduce noise and visual pollution, moderate climate extremes, conserve energy, enhance public safety, and support the community’s quality of life.

Saugerties Historic Preservation Comission
We implement the Town of Saugerties' Historic Preservation Ordinance by designating, protecting, enhancing and promoting landmarks and historic districts and historic and scenic transportation routes. To help preserve the historic, architectural, archeological and cultural heritage of the Town, we issue Certificate of Appropriateness for improvements to designated historic sties.
